I would ask: If Jesus died for our sins, why is there still Hell? Why is there still sin in general?
He died for our sins because he knew we couldn’t live sinless, we would make mistakes. However, with his promise that those mistakes would be forgiven, we can live and follow God with love, hope and appreciation. We won’t have to worry as long as we have true faith. He wanted us to live peacefully and comfortably without feeling guilty for the mistakes we do as humans. Jesus Christ gave us security and sanctity. The condition is that we have faith in him, and still do our best to follow according to the laws of this world he has laid down. If we do not, we will be punished, because God is fair. The sinners and the ignorers of this fact are not equal to the ones who strived for God’s love and acceptance. This is not evil, this is justice. God loves us all, even the sinners.
A King may have two sons, one a thief and one a pious priest. He loves them both, because they are his children; but the priest does not deserve to be punished like the thief must. Likewise, the thief is not rewarded like the priest is. Let us say the thief must pay a million dollars as a fine, which he does not have. His father, the King, will not remove the fine as that is unjust. Though it hurts him, he is angry that his son would do such deeds. He pays the fine for his son (=dying, or paying, for our sins). His son steals again, and again. The fines and punishment increase and increase until they become a death penalty and though his father loves him, he must punish him. The son spread evil in the lands, and as legislated, must now pay for what he has done because the Father, the King, is Just.
