The Trinity

I was tired of feeling hate every time I saw the word Trinity. I had been raised to think of this as an insult to God. "How can God be three? He should only be one: Allah." "The Trinity makes no sense, it is ridiculous. It is a mystery." I wanted to understand it, and I prayed to God to help me.

What is the Trinity? It is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are one, but in three forms. That is it: forms. I can dress as a stewardess, a waitress and an astronaut. I’m Jenny, but I have three jobs, or forms. When I am a stewardess, I relate to the airline crew directly and comfortably. When I’m a waitress, the food industry knows me well. And when I’m an astronaut, scientists and astrologists know what I am talking about.

The Trinity is a way of us directly relating to God, so we can have a direct relationship with him.

  • By God the Father being a father, we relate to Him as someone of loving authority, someone who watches out for us and cares; someone who will do anything for us.

  • By God the Son, we relate to someone who loves and is loved by a father. The love of the Son for His Father shows how he would accept anything from his Father because he is aware of His Father’s Love and Justice, and because he has undying and unfaltering faith in him. The same example as Abraham and Ishmael applies, but God showed us love by making it personal, giving Himself as an example, in a way more touching to us.

  • By the Holy Spirit, we relate to the love itself, non-physical, filling our hearts, minds and souls.

Just as the main method of teaching in most Holy Books is parables and examples, the Trinity itself is a parable so we can better learn understand.

One of the biggest blessings I find is the fact that God has instilled these instincts in us, even when we are not born into these situations. A son, born without a father figure, still yearns for a father figure. A father, no matter how evil his son is, still loves him and wants to save him; and everyone, every human being, wants to love, be loved and feel loved.
